It's Raining in North Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

There is the Annan plan again. A territorial division that chopped the GC constituent state into two parts, which granted EEZ to the British bases, which had a demarcation line impossible to police. No thank you.

The SAID they would give the base to be SHARED between the two communities, ie to increase the already BIASED proportion of 30 per cent of land for 18 per cent of the population.

What they DID was to insert a big pile of clauses in the Annan plan giving their bases 12 mile territorial waters, their own sovereign continental shelf and Exclusive Economic Zone. Obviously words and actions differ on this point, as on many others in the Annan plan. And for this the people were asked to provide legalization in pepetuity. And I was supposed to vote for this abortion and thus prove that I am a peace lover!

If Zurich took us to 1963 it does not take much intelligence to see that Annan was taking us somewhere much worse.

Turkey, Turkish Cyprus sign water transport deal
Turkish Cypriot President Eroglu said "water" and "electricity" were two strategically important projects for TRNC.
Tuesday, 20 July 2010 10:06
Turkish and Turkish Cypriot officials signed Monday a 450 million USD framework agreement to transport 75 million cubicmeters of water from Turkey to Turkish Republic of TRNC annually.

The "intergovernmental framework agreement on meeting the water requirement of TRNC" was signed by Turkish State Minister & Deputy Premier Cemil Cicek and TRNC's Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk during a ceremony held in Lefkosa that was also attended by TRNC's President Dervis Eroglu.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Turkish Cypriot President Eroglu said "water" and "electricity" were two strategically important projects for TRNC.

Eroglu said TRNC would develop faster thanks to the water and electricity brought from Turkey.

TRNC's Prime Minister Kucuk noted that the 75 million cubicmeters of water to be transported from Turkey would change TRNC's appearance.

Kucuk said the water to be brought from Turkey would be beneficial not only for TRNC, but for the island of Cyprus as a whole.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Cicek said in his part that the water project would provide a remarkable resource for Turkish Cypriots, and to the people of the island as well, if a lasting peace could be established.

Noting that the relations between Turkey and TRNC were not based on economic benefits, Cicek said the two countries had ties of brotherhood.

The water project between Turkey and TRNC, whose framework agreement was signed today, envisages transport of water via pipes from the "Alakopru Dam" to be constructed on the Dragon Stream in Turkey's southern Mersin province's Anamur town to the "Gecitkoy Dam" near Girne in TRNC.

The project, which will be completed in 4 years time, will cost around 450 million USD which will be totally covered by Turkey.

That's assuming the RoC will not contest this project in the UN , EU and the courts, for Turkey violating her territory with such uninvited project.

I predict that, when Turkey say it will take 4 years to complete the project, it will not get done in 40 years, if at all.!

Yes, I can just see the UN Security council, and the EU, blocking a water project. For what reason apart from GC pressure? For what reason would YOU want to stop such a project?

Did the EU stop the German MEPs coming into TRNC from Ercan? Do visitors to TRNC that land in Ercan get stopped from crossing the greenine because RoC doesn't recognise the airport? If the relationship with the TRNC is not regulated by an international body such as Chicago convention or FIFA, there is no legal obstruction to its involvement with the TRNC.

Not only is it illegal without RoC approval, but such a dumb project would be an environmental catastrophe in the Med.

GR - you've lost the plot lately,

Is all OK on the home front or work? Is someone picking on you and you've just got to kick the next TC you see? Well I guess if it saves your wife from another beating you just go for it.

Last I remember what was it you wanted to do to TCs if you had been in Cyprus in the 60s? Punk.

With hindsight, trash them before they trash Cyprus.

And yourself? What would you have done if not "take the whole of Cyprus" as the cockroach Ottoman remnants often boast???
