Can someone please explain...

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Can someone please explain...

The population exchange in Cyprus please? What made it different from the other population exchanges between Greek and Turk.

Not trying to piss anyone off, just trying to get to the bottom of a part of Cypriot history.

If anyone has any credible links that would be great.

I'll give you a credible link. There was non, Morphou was evacuated by Turkish soldiers. My family left behind photo's, clothes, jewllery, documents...everything. Had there been a "population exchange" do you not think they would have brought their valuables with them?

The only organised movement was that of the TC's when they were bussed over by the UN after the end of the Turkish forces advancing. And that was done as a request from Rauf.

There was never a population exchange. It was either stay quarantined under Turkey's laws in the north. Or freedom with a signature, never to return. What are you a rookie?

Sorry to hear that, did the TA just turn up and march your family over the boarder, were they handed to the un or other gcs? At what point? Where?

What are other peoples experiences?

Thank you for taking the time to respond by the way.

It was either live under Turkish illegal rule or not. No I never experienced it. I just have many sources that did.

I only know this because I had a few members of my relatives that stayed there till 76. Don't know if they had the option of staying, or because of giving up living in the north.
