It's unfortunate that Apollon has 0 Cypriot players in the starting 11. The bench is no better; only the reserve goalkeeper is a Cypriot. :x

1-0 FT

Not a bad result for an away game.

Roundup of the first leg of all the matches…

AC Omonia 1-1 FC Salzburg

Cercle Brugge 1-0 Αnorthosis Famagusta

APOEL FC 1-0 FK Jablonec

Sibir Novosibirsk 1-0 Apollon Limassol

As can be seen, at the end of the first round everything is still open in all four matches although I’m mostly worried about Omonia and APOEL’s qualification because Salzburg will be stronger in her home ground against Omonia, and APOEL’s home win is rather disappointing!

Omonoia should play with a 4-4-2 formation (as in the 2nd half) with LuaLua and Constantinou (or Rengifo) to score an early goal.

APOEL is a much better team than Jablonec, but they should score an early goal to kill the Czechs' chances for qualification.

All teams did fairly well overall and they have good chances of progressing to the next round. :)
