Yes Palio military has own rules always.... Like few days ago your GC MP Mathatis arrested by the GC army for entering into the Greek Cypriots army training site and protesting his own army ..... how about that ? don't you think it is also way of the military mentality? If they have a warning signs not to enter...not the take pictures.... what happens ? they arrest u without question ... like your own army arrested your own member of the parliment. Are u going to protest his arrest too.

there are signs all over the place to not take pictures, but i was wondering why they dont let you take pictures? where is the harm? i was not trying to say about any mentality of turkish army i just did not understand why they mind if some one takes a picture or two.

I mentioned before that I too was nearly arrested in an area between Lapithos and Kormacit. I was taking pictures of the forest there. I was the guest of the moukhtar of the village. The sentry came up and tried to shove me with his bayonet towards an army post I had not noticed. The moukhtar said that I was a TC and not a spy. The sentry insisted that he take me in, that if he did not he would be beaten up by his higher ranking officer. I said I saw no signs and no military camp. The sentry said it was in the forest and all was military area. Other villagers came to my rescue and the sentry sheepishly relented, scared by the numbers and also hoping that he was not seen by his superiors. It was a terrible feeling as I did imagine being beaten up too.

The GCs must have felt a lot worse.

thats horrible, so they tried to push you into the military zone so they can take action, like the gcs and tcs did at the green line trying to push the other into the buffer zone to be able to kill them. and your a spy?! thats crazy, so what happened what did you tell them? once they saw you speaking turkish though i bet they shut up

The sentry appeared from the direction of the forest, in which there was a military zone/camp. He wanted to take in to the 'guard-room' to be charged.

Pne would think we were under 'enemy occupation'.

How is that relevant to this story? Matsakis, is a lunatic who could've gotten himself killed if someone hadn’t spotted him fiddling around the targets!

Where ever you are GR...If there is a signs and says not to entry or take pictures...or other things .... u should take all the responsibilty. to enter military zones it is always dangerous GR....

Try to take pictures of the GC military zones while they are watching u GR...Just go to Kermia check point. There is one .....

Matsakis was feedling around the target u saying...there is no different when some one enters in to the military controlled area. Thats what 2 men has done. Entering the military controlled area. when the soldiers on duty they never thinks that u were friendly GR. U have been in the army as well GR....Civilians mentality and soldiers mentalities are not same.

also as a politition Matsakis mentality was completly different than military men... he doesn't care what was going to happen to him, he likes to make politics. he likes to gain some points from the public. also we never know that what was the aim of the those 2 men too.

Sorry halil I was not trying to make it a shame on ta thread but the story you mention I did not hear it. I would of still posted it if it was the gc army. I just find it strange why they care, they have lots of signs not to take pics in the south border also. I bet the gc police might say something if they saw you taking pics

The TRNC is another country whether its recognized or not you have to obey by its rules when you visit just as we do when we visit the south, its has plenty of warning signs not to take pictures otherwise you will be arrested they did not heed the warnings and therefore paid the price.

VP,

Spare us the nationalist lecture. Two dudes, father and son, both taking pics, both arrested, the one with the USA passport was released, the one with the Cypriot passport fined. The story says the TRNC is a bullshit regime that would not dare touch an American. Law or no laws, when there is a lack of cojones your state becomes a redicolo.
