Pigeons? What Pigeons?

Postby skyvet » Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:30 am

I picked up a useful tip recently on how to deter Pigeons from roosting on your roof, and it works!
All you need is a toy rubber snake, but it must be black. Simply place it on your roof where they like to settle, and the Pigeons will disappear as soon as they spot it. Apparently they're afraid of black snakes.
I haven't had a Pigeon on my roof since the snake arrived!

Nothing whatsoever - if you happen to like disease ridden vermin pooping all over your roof, and damaging solar panels, water tanks etc etc.

If a dog has a right to dislike cats then a human also has a right to dislike pigeons. Or maybe he is doing, but more kindly, what many UK municipalities do when they exterminate pigeons.

And by the way, thanks for the useful info Skyvet.

Stuffed birds of prey also work but they would scare off all birds!

Stuffed or plastic birds of prey repel some birds but ATTRACT others, like magpies who make a hell of a racket.

Magpies gang up on raptors, real or artificial. In nature there are no taboos about who you like and dislike.

Not all pigeons are disease ridden vermin, some are very nice in a tomato and onion sauce.

Some pigeons are WORSE than snakes....'Stool Pigeons'..., we've had a few of them engaged in the action of pulling the wool over the eyes of the Cypriot people whilst in the process of pretending to act in their interest, allegedly trying to solve the problems THEY originally created

Can these shtupid birds tell the difference between a snake and a length of black hose?

Would it also work in urban areas of the UK, where they would not have the instinct (?) of fearing snakes? or would they naturally fear the black snake?

Obviously in Cyprus, they would 'know' of the 'black snakes'. :?
