HIGH LEVEL CONTACT GROUP

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

HIGH LEVEL CONTACT GROUP

Postby halil » Mon Jul 12, 2010 2:34 pm

The mission of the European Parliament’s High Level Contact Group for relations with the Turkish Cypriot is being questions. The Contact Group, whose members visit Cyprus just for once or twice in a year, rejected a suggestion to meet with the TRNC Representative in Brussels Ahmet Erdengiz.

A debate started within the Group over its mission after the rejection of the proposal.

Libour Roucek – the deputy-President of the European Parliament and the Coordinator of the EP High Level Contact Group gave an exclusive interview to ABHaber News agency on the Cyprus issue.

Responding to a question whether members of the Contact Group meet with TRNC Representative in Brussels Ahmet Erdengiz, Roucek said “a suggestion of holding a meeting with Erdengiz was made but it was put to a vote within the Group and rejected”.

He said that the mission given to the Contact Group by EP Presidency conference was very clear and that the group was set up to make contacts with the Turkish Cypriots.

Sorry Halil, but that doesn't make much sense. They don't want to meet with the TRNC representative, but they want to meet with Turkish Cypriots! Does this mean they are rejecting the TRNC, but want to meet with individual TCs, or something else?

With who they met in Cyprus CBBB....They met TRNC representatives.

Also TRNC side has got office in Brussel. what difference is .... TC public very carefully watching every movement and gives own points to EU and to others CBBB.

Gap between both sides are increasing everyday. We are going no where....
