The most I see happening is the ability to reside wherever one wants but subject to the divisions imposed by this BBF thing. I am also ready to see a situation where all kinds of non Cypriots will be have the right to enjoy the whole island, but Cypriots will live in self imposed apartheid, all by the grace of Europe.

And I remained confused as to how a former resident of Paphos can be moved to Kyrenia and pretend to like it. No offence to Kyrenians, but you cannot compare the lush green valleys of Paphos to the dry Arizona-like semi desert of Kyrenia, especially the part on the south slopes of Pentadaktylos.

I fear that not only has the climate and flora changed since your last visit to Kyrenia, but also its location - it is now on the North side of the Beshparmaks (Pentadaktylos).

VW,

For us old hands the name of the town can also mean the name of the district. YOu need to spend more time on the island to get to know local habits and customs. A little research on how the mountain got its name will help too.

I agree with you there except when I think of the Pentadaktylos I always think of the lush northern slopes. Give em time, that too will be converted to either a desert or a concrete jungle.

I know that Kyrenia is a district as well as a town, but most of the people living in that district live on the North side of the Beshparmaks in and around Kyrenia town. The drive on the dual-carriageway between Nicosia and Kyrenia takes you through green forestry and the first view of Kyrenia town with the sea behind it cannot really be compared to Arizona.
I am aware of some of the mythology surrounding the Beshparmaks and how they got their name, but I'm sure you have a GC version where the Gods said they would always belong to the Greeks, or something similar, no doubt.

The imprint of the giants hand as he leapt over the mountain. You can't even do a simple translation in Greek or Turkish

Where there is a mythology, then there is an accompanying history. One cannot erase history. Not even with bloodshed and ethnic cleansing as we have seen in Cyprus. North and south. My home will always be in the south and there will always be those that believe Kyrenia and Famagusta are their homes..full of people that do not belong there.

Please enlighten us as to the how the mythology is tied into the history, or vice-versa if you find that easier. Mythology is something which never actually took place which, by definition, means it cannot have anything to do with history.

That is not a very clever question. At some stage I thought of you as a philosopher. I was wrong.

Your best place is where they have not been invaded since 1066. Get a one way ticket please.
