July 12, 2010
PanARMENIAN.Net - On July 20, 2010, the Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) will be demonstrating in front of the Turkish Embassy in Washington DC, to demand justice for Turkish invasion of Cyprus that began on July 20, 1974.
“For 36 years Greek-Cypriots suffer an ongoing Holocaust of our culture, heritage and people. Turkey's crimes include the rape of 800 Greek-Cypriot women, the murder of thousands of Greek-Cypriots, the theft of half of the Greek-Cypriot peoples homeland, the forcible displacement of hundreds of thousands, and the ongoing illegal occupation of a culture, a sovereign territory a homeland,” the CANA said.
“Our protest sends the strong message around the world that, no matter how hard the Turkish murderers, rapists, thieves, invaders, occupiers and their allies try to sell us their Turkish racist bizonal, bicommunal plans: we will never forgive, we will never forget the perpetrators of the Holocaust of the Greek-Cypriot people.”
Hysterical is a word that springs to mind, and I don't mean funny.
I dont know where you come from but no one likes to have their homeland invaded and be subjected to ethnic cleansing. GC's dont like it nor do the TC's.
Where I come from we haven't been invaded since 1066.
I'm sure no one likes being invaded and to describe the events of 36 years ago in emotive language is understandable. However, to blame and describe todays Turks in the same language can be compared to me describing modern Germans as Jew murdering, Nazi scum.
I don't think the original article is as generic as you proclaim. However, the salient difference between Germany today and Turkey today is that Germany no longer occupies foreign lands and the government has sought to rectify the political damage. Turkey and its murderers, rapists etc still occupy our country and conduct apartheid and maintain the state of Greek-specific ethnic cleansing, every second of our lives!
I don't dispute that Turkey still occupies some of your country but please demonstrate that this is currently being done by murderers and rapists etc. There may have been murder and rape 36 years ago but the same can't be said about today, except by you it seems.
"Some" of my country under occupation is all of my country under Turkish-administered apartheid and sustained Greek-specific ethnic cleansing!
The Turkish occupation army is led by some of the 1974 "war heroes" (aka rapists/murderers) ...
"all" of your country? Even the so-called RoC?
Name a few TA leaders who are 1974 veterans that are in TRNC now please.
Easy, find the nicest biggest pieces of GC land in the occupied territories and chances are they belong to the families of Turkish senior officers that led the invasion and most probably took part in the atrocities.

Cyprus is a small island and everyone knows everyone, it was smaller back then, so I can only assume that the state or the community feel that no crime was committed. As an EU member state this lack of action should be unacceptable, especially to a people and state that demand the rule of law with regard the events of 74 and afterwards. Or is this the usual hypocrisy that the law does not apply when it suits.

No worries, ask iceman and halil who DO know.
the only thing I'm unsure off is where exactly this land is. The fact that you do not know common knowledge stuff like Denktash giving out the best GC land to the officers shows how much time someone should give you while debating the cyprus problem. Learn some basics.
