This is your problem, VP. First you claim that the spotlight has been put on the "trnc" with isolation and embargoes, and at the same time you claim of the north having the most luxurious hotel on the island with Hummers and Limos and so on.
How can this be a problem? only in your biased world.
For the outside world, it doesn't give them the image of deprived people of the north as the case is with the Palestinians, or else there will be flotilla of goods coming to the north.
There are varying degrees of embargoes and their impact, although we may not be nowhere near as hardoff as the Palastinians thanks to Turkey, this shows how resilent Tcs really are, they have worked closely with their only real ally to make the best of the current situation attracting investment to produce the best hotwl on the island, I know its difficult for you to understand as it makes you sick to your stomeach to see we are not under dire straights and at the mercy of GCs.
The Cratos and JLo saga has damaged the image of the north a great deal. As I've stated, if International personalities are not willing to come to the north despite potential $40 lawsuit loss to them, tell me what will. The message that's in all the papers are, the reasons are because of the occupation and Human Rights violations. Naturally the press in the north and Turkey will put a spin on all the negative news. Using your term, "if someone spits in their face, they will claim it is raining".! While the Cratos has been getting name recognition, the "trnc" has been receiving BAD name recognition.
You seem to be more concerned that we are, the whole issue has been positive for the TRNC its has raised the question of why TCs are still under inhumane embargoes, even the EU has a bill that will ease these embargoes on the north, we didnt have worldwide stars performing in the TRNC a month ago and we still dont have them today (although we do have some stars eg shaggy, inna, sean paul) so what? what has changed. Cratos has had a great deal of exposure even you now know where it is located and the spotlight has been turned onto why in 2010 the TCs have to suffer, more than enough for me.
To bring the whole family to Vegas, is the reason why the attractions, but almost all the attractions are provided by the casinos, therefore gamblers are never too far away from the tables. If there were no entertainments, most people wouldn't come. Most people are not serious gamblers, but they do mostly gamble while they are in Vegas. There are many great hotels in Turkey on the coasts, so why would a non gambler from Turkey come to the Cratos in the north when that's all the Cratos is offering, gambling and the sea.
You have not seen the Cratos so I will not bother to express the other attractions it has or the north can provide as none of that registers with one so bised, all you have to know is our casinos do a great deal of business from all over the world they are flown in and flown out some on private jets some on luxury boats, the Cratos will be around for a long time to come as the owner has retired to Cyprus and built the complex as something to do during his retirement.
OK, so you don't know very much about the hotels in Vegas. Just for your information, Cratos style of hotel will never be built on the strip. It is way too simple looking which lacks any motivation for any visitor to go and look inside. It has a typical American MOTEL look to it than a 5 star hotel casino. Most hotels on the strip costs in the Billions of dollars to be built these days.
Do I care? NO.
It's interesting, that the Cratos is bringing most of their workers from Turkey rather than using local labour. You say the TCs will not work in the hotel, but what about the hundreds of thousands of other Turkish settlers. Why not hire them, or is it because these people along with the TCs are not acceptable by the Turkish elites who may be using the hotel as being not sophisticated enough. Yes VP, the Turkish elites are very racists, even towards their own in Turkey as well as towards the TCs, just because we don't talk like them.
Still more crap again this shows how very little you know about the TRNC, we just do not have the workforce to fill in 900 jobs, Tcs only accept high post poisitons and will not work as cleaners or waiters, so what does such a large scale project do they ship them in from Turkey where they can find experienced staff unavailable in the TRNC.
These people will cater to the TCs, I for one will use many of their facilities outside of gambling.
So, basically, almost all of the money will go back to Turkey, as well as the employees sending their money back home to their families in Turkey, since most are coming from there as new. The north gets the scraps and the bad PR and the Cratos gets everything else, and you are thrilled about it.
Partly true but these people have to rent homes and eat, the hotel uses local produce and untilities etc so some of the revenue does get pumped back into the economy.
Then they should have kept the name "Kratos" instead.!
This again shows how one sided you really are, Kratos or Cratos its a Greek word how many large scale hotels in the south have Turkish names? Does the south even have a Turkish Cypriot School? Instead of running everything we do into ground maybe you should and shed your warped and biased viewpoint by asking this type of question and pulling the GCs up about their racists stance on specific issues.
