Wherever the contract was signed. I would assume the USA or the state of New York where she is from....If they take it to that level then where is the legitimacy, There is a resolution in Congress that orders the Turkish army out of Cyprus, and the return of all refugees. How would an American court rule against that.....The lawsuit against JLO is a joke....

A luxury hotel in northern Cyprus has threatened to sue pop star Jennifer Lopez for $40m (£27m) after she cancelled a gig there for "political" reasons. Skip related content

But newspapers in the Turkish-occupied territory said the hotel owner has offered J.Lo an olive branch, saying there is still time to reverse her decision.

The singer had been due to perform on July 24 at the Cratos Premium hotel and casino complex - but the booking outraged Greek Cypriots in the south of the island nation.

They claimed that performing in the disputed north would be tantamount to making a political statement and the singer was deluged with thousands of letters of protest.

A Facebook site against the concert signed up almost 20,000 members within a week.

In backing out of the concert, a spokesperson for J.Lo told celebrity gossip website TMZ: "Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse.

"After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

Yet Feza Firat, whose Istanbul-based F&F Agency represents the Cratos hotel, claims Lopez had been "led to believe there was a war going on".

Mr Firat went on to say the singer's fee had already been paid.

The US-based American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association claimed the concert would "lend credence to an illegal entity recognised only by Turkey".

Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey occupied the north to try and stop Nicosia uniting with Greece.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is only recognised by Turkey and has been a significant political barrier to Turkey being allowed to join the EU.

Courts will sometimes look at location where the cause of action arose. If this is the katehomena then Cratos Premium Bordellos is stuffed as well. There are no sovereign Courts there. Lambron na tous kapsei.

In Cyprus a war IS going on hence there UN troops and a ceasefire line. At law the war/ invasion continues.

So many posts on J-Lo. I am not sure if this was posted. Nothing new I suspect.

Can't wait for the day the UN says enough is enough and pulls stumps and exits.

Funny old war though eh, we cross over into each other's territories, buy food, have drinks, make friends have meetings...... Would you say this is more like war or a peace which is strained at times.

STOP TRYING TO CREATE TROUBLE THAT IS WHAT COST THE LIVES WE ALL KEEP LAMENTING

What causes the most trouble is denying the truth, that land culture and heritage in the occuppied areas are Hellenic and the Turks living there are illegal trespassers.....

i would not call it a war.. more like war in, whats the word cease fire. the precance of turkish army makes it necessary to have un and eu troops. its more then safe to be in cy though, we have the green light. not like before the 60's i can only imagine how it was

Its real simple if her contract is binding and she is in breach then she will pay the price and Cratos premium will not only have pulled of a media coup but gotten paid a the same time.

An illegal contract is not binding nor is it enforceable, stop spouting about a matter you know nothing about. Entering the ROC through Ercan and conspiring to trespass render the contract illegal except perhaps in the "trnc" and Turkey. I doubt any country in the world would assist in enforcing the judgment.
