Sotirios Hatzigakis has been accused of running up a 20 million euro (£16.7 million) bill while in office by giving out mobile phones used to call premium-rate sex lines.
Some of those given a phone by Sotirios Hatzigakis were spending up to £10,000 a month in calls to the premium-rate lines, with names including Hot Pussycats, Bored Housewives and The Aphrodite Hotline, according to German media.

The spending was uncovered by official investigations into government spending as part of Greece’s emergency financial austerity measures.

Mr Hatzigakis has also been criticised for spending 150,000 euros (£125,000) of taxpayers’ money on the renovation of his 30sq ft office, as well as 71,000 euros (£59,000) on new furniture, at a time Greece has received an £110 billion (£90 billion) rescue package from the European Union and International Monetary Fund.

The 66-year-old politician has also been accused of placing almost 300 fellow party members as well as his own children in state-owned companies.

Might be better if you post a link to one of the UK MP expenses scandals for us all to criticise Milo.

Greece and all Greeks and all things Greek can do no wrong on here!

Actually, its a free for all GC bashing bonanza.

Every time some twat has an isolated bad experience they log onto CF to bitch and moan and brand the entire nation.

Its because people have had enough that the posts are met with hostility and counter accusations.
Although I can appreciate bringing certain problems to the fore and labeling wrongdoing individuals or companies or whatever. Not the whole country as a whole.

Yes but according to some on this forum you are One and the same nation.

We must thank the likes GR and Milti for their stance for the cause of Cypriotness.

Just like 'daddy's little boy when he is good and the wife's b'stard when he misbehaves'.

Really?

As this is the least busy Cyprus Forum I know of and has very few regular posters - I doubt they all come to CF to moan. Most newbies are treated very coolly even if they are asking a civil question - like the one that enquired about taxi costs earlier.

You know people criticise the countries they came from before coming here.

And most regulars here don't live in Cyprus, but live in the UK, and never stop slagging off the UK and Brits - what's the difference?

If the whole forum and all its threads consisted of posters just praising Cyprus and throwing verbal bouquets at each other it would be even slower than it is now.

Fluffy kittens and knitting patterns do not make for a very interesting DISCUSSION forum.

I mean ONLY negative news about the UK and Turkey count to you.

Trouble is, its not ALL about what you like/dislike anymore is it, so get used to it.

Its in a Cyprus newspaper, the same one many on here use quotes from, its about Greece which I understand has a connection to Cyprus, I did,nt write it, and others are interested in it, so whats your problem?

Silly me, its because a Brit posted it
