Obviously some hairdressers are nice people, Figgy, but it's the profession which is weird. Grooming is part of our social cementing of relationships. Yet these charlatans charge the earth to do what exactly?

My mum used to cut my hair, then I would snip a bit and now my husband does. Whenever I have bowed to synthetic-social pressure and visited one of these establishments, I have met with nothing but sorrow ...

Stay away from hairdressers/barbers! :P

Most are an ignorant bunch. They only pass on what they hear from one customer to the other.

One even accused me for her wifes pregnancy. I never even knew the bint. (True story btw). Ofcourse I never went to that barbers again. That was forty years ago - Off Wardour Street. (Oh Happy Days.........)

Maybe these are the "hardest work" professions, depends what you mean by "worst"

Manual labour is good. They are providing a valuable service to humanity. What is bad is the exploitation by their "bosses" who do not pay them enough or work them under unreasonable conditions (too young or dangerous disregard for safety).

So 'slave-traders' have got to rank amongst the worst 'professions' (along with hairdressers).

OK so by "worst" you mean morally, as opposed to "worst job someone has to endure doing."
