gay graffiti in Davlos/Kaplica?

Postby samarkeolog » Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:40 pm

Hi!

Long time no post; but now I have to run for the last bus to Irakleio airport.

There are romantic pink graffiti on the walls of the Chapel of Agios Sozomenos, outside Davlos/Kaplıca. I think they may be gay graffiti, crossed-out by homophobes.

Does anyone know, or have a better guess than me?

The state of the church is more shocking than the color pink.

I dont think the 'eye' is that part of the anatomy. I think its the 'female sex organ'.

Shameful.

It should be, yes; but I saw loads of desecrated and damaged churches, so I got used to it.

I only saw the one church with pink paint on it; and I think it's interesting that the "vandalism" was done not as "Muslim desecration" of the church, but as consecration of the romance.

Well, yes, I thought it might be that too; but, er, it's sideways. Maybe the model was lying down when the artist drew it? :? Then again, if the "eye" is that, it's obvious the artist hadn't seen one in a long time, so maybe he'd just forgotten...

You didn't see the paper I presented at an off-Broadway revue? :(
