Free medical care for Cypriots in the E.U.

Postby fi » Mon Aug 01, 2005 5:56 pm

All Cypriot citizens that visit E.U. countries (as well as Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein), students or not are allowed free medical (or lower cost medical treatment) in those countries.

They should first acquire form E111 from the ministry of Health.

Note that the form is not valid for scheduled treatment abroad.

This form will begin to function from the 1st of January 2006 when the European Card of Health Insurance comes in effect.

Of course every country has its own rules and visitors should check their respective Ministry of Health websites

Well said, only a small correction; E111 is soon going to be replaced by the European Health Card (which is already 'tested' in some EU countries -Greece for example). It's more practical and valied for a whole year.

You cannot believe how handy and useful this form (E111) or the European Health Card may prove in times of emergency...!
