Malwarebytes is an absolute gem of a program. Saved my PC.

Seems that I will be forced off the forum for a few days till I fix this. It is sheer ball busting to try to post with all this crap going on. Some posts come through, some do not, constant resets, like one per second, some times i see the whole page, some times the bottom is missing etc etc. Funny thing it is that it happens only with this site, no others.

System reset will not work due to to "unknown problem" and so on and on.

Will get back when I fix it.

What info does this logfile give that is useful.

I wanted to do this, but don't want to mess up my PC with a shed load of downloads.

You may have to delete some of the updates through regedit.

Just from the standard add/remove will suffice… but anyway, there’s no reason to leave updates enabled. In the case of XP there aren’t any more on offer anyway.

1. You’re mixing Norton and AVG antivirus programs. Get rid of one, preferably both. Go to add/remove and follow through...

2. Run “Hijack This”, click the box on the right of ALL these entries and then click the “Fix Checked” button at the bottom.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Download RootkitBuster from here…

…and run it to scan your system for something that Malwarebytes cannot.

Microsoft had an update notice tonight, which I downloaded and it seems to have fixed the problem. But I will do what you said anyway.

The update, according to the notice, bundles together all recent updates and fixes of the Vista. So far so good.

Thank you for the help. Computers are not my strong point and when they go wrong I tend to go all superstitious.
