Accused Russian spy probably fled Cyprus-minister says (?)

Don't worry about Asil! He seems qüite happy to fight the rotten British so called Justice (that sucks!)... Why don't you get your own house and ministers in order İnstead!
quote:
"Christopher Robert Metsos, 54, skipped bail on Wednesday a day after a court ordered his release from custody. He is wanted by the United States on allegations of being paymaster to a group of suspected Russian sleeper spies arrested last weekend.

"It's my belief that he has left Cyprus, I do not think he is in areas controlled by the republic," said.

Metsos, holder of a Canadian passport, was in Cyprus when his 10 co-accused were arrested in the United States.

He had attempted to leave the island on Tuesday morning for Budapest and was arrested on the basis of an Interpol alert.

A court ordered he be freed on bail, overturning a request from police he remain in custody. He handed in his passport, but disappeared a day later."

The GC politics are so flucked up, it is "Long live America and Israel" when it suits them, and yet ıt fast turns into "Down with America and Long live Russia"

The saying "Nerver trust a Greek bearing gifts" should be changed to, erm... simply "Never trust a Greek!"

What do RoC ministers have to do with this story? Nothing!

What has politics got to do with this? On her territory the RoC goes by HER laws, not those of America! If this person is not considered a danger to the public then he should be allowed bail as happened.

Stupid line… :? We’re Cypriots not Greeks. Wakey-wakey…

It's part of normal western legal proceedings (which aim to treat the innocent as innocent, rather than guilty without evidence) that they be granted bail. If they run; that later counts against them.

BigOZ ... are you trying to tell us this 'spy' has sought refuge in the occupied north as well? Because, that's were those on the run from justice, like Asil, find a haven -- for a while -- until they become "disgusted" with the Turks!

The escape of the Russian spy will hurt Cyprus politically. God knows what games we play with Russia but, in any case, we will be on the receiving end, mark my words. Was it police incompetence (not presenting the case properly to the judge) or was it presented in such a way as to leave the judge with no other option but to let free the spy on bail? If the latter is the truth then we deserve whatever is coming to us.

Are people suggesting we interfere with the Law for political reasons?

The man was entitled to Bail. He got it. What he did later was his own fault and no one else's. We are not a police state!

Have you seen the way the case was presented to court by the police? You are a complete idiot if you take everything for granted and you do not read between the lines. Have we now paid back Russia for her "help" at the Security Council last month? Will Russian money be coming in safely for the next six months? Are we once again taking the side of the northern bear in an area where the West has great interests? Will we come out unscathed? Have we not learned anything from the past?
