The man was entitled to Bail. He got it. What he did later was his own fault and no one else's. We are not a police state!

do you let everyone out on bail, regardless of their crimes, or the chance they will flee? ESPECIALLY A SPY? how stupid is that? !!!!

Was there any evidence that this "Spy" was a danger to the Cypriot public?

This is ample evidence of how much people like oracle and GR care about this place. They want to turn a country like the USA against Cyprus. The silly comments made by both of them and especially the one "everybody is innocent until proved guilty" point to the direction that all suspects, including murderers, rapists etc should be allowed to roam free, until they are brought to court. You can not get more stupid than this.

BigOz, you can trust a Greek to by loyal to his friends. The US and the UK are not friends of Cyprus, but friends of Turkey. It is Russia which always supports Cyprus at the UN security council.

On the other hand you can never trust Turks. Turkey is not loyal to her friends and I believe that the US/UK should revise the blind support they give to Turkey. If/when they do that then they can be our friends like Russia is.

Again you go to extremes. Each case is viewed individually, and well you know it. I've already asked if such a "spy" would have posed an immediate danger to the Cypriot public (as would perhaps someone charged for suspected murder). Obviously the Judge thought he did not pose a danger and granted Bail. That is what our (English) legal system demands.

Now, if he was a Turkish Spy, collecting espionage against the RoC, the matter would have rightfully been different. Then we could complain if he was let off with Bail.

What are we? The USA's poodles?

i did not say that. a spy is a spy. and if a spy is caught, they should be treated as high risk. american is making the cypriots out to be a bunch of idiots over this one. how stupid can you get, letting a spy out on bail. oh yeah, he's gonna stick around and show up in court. uh huh. yeah right. :?
