Cyprus’ revenue from tourism rose 4.2 percent in May, boosted by an almost 43 percent increase in Russian tourists for the month.
Tourist spending in May increased to 164.8 million euros ($202.4 million) from 158.1 million euros a year earlier, the country’s statistical service said Wednesday on its web site. May is the second month in 2010 to show a rise in tourist spending on a yearly basis.
Russian tourists spent an average of 93.4 euros a day, up from 91.4 euros last year.
