We can't have fools ruining their families...

That sounds very 'nanny state'.

No more than one visit per month? I bet the GCs who use the casinos in the North go there more than once a month.

Why no restriction on all the tacky 'gentlemens' clubs' here if they are concerned with family values?

I'm guessing it's a GO Church thing that prevents casinos here. Just off to look it up.

*is there anything your govt does or doesn't do that you disapprove of? Because it doesn't sound like there is! They walk on water and can do no wrong.

No condom machines allowed ..............but caberets are ............

It’s just that most people are stupid so they cannot be trusted and must be controlled. I don’t believe in too much freedom for the masses… freedom is something that should be earned by proving you won’t abuse it.

Can just put in a quick word in support of the old chaps who go around selling lotto tickets please.

They're a part of CY Culture. CY would be a poorer place without them.

Lahia! .... thokimaste din deehee sas .... lahia......

I don’t see a problem with barring access to certain sites for the well being of the masses… ie: gambling, pedophilia, cults, and what have you, but turning it on or off in its entirety is a totalitarianist act.

Gambling is as serious a problem as drug abuse. Many families are ruined every year worldwide because one or more parents are seriously sick with it!

You can ruin your family with gambling much faster than with heroin!

Yes I know it is a serious addiction. That's why I am surprised they allow ONLINE casino gambling. You can do that 24hrs a day without leaving your house. And some do.

And it is possible I know to 'switch bits off'. There were lots of sites that you were unable to access in the Cayman Islands because they were not allowed. No Casinos allowed there - gambling not permitted. My Scrabble site was not allowed there - because it has gambling on it too.

But at least they have banned it ALL. Cyprus hasn't. Just the casinos.

Now if you take a city like London - only a tiny percentage of the problem gamblers will spend their time in Casinos. More will be at racecourses and even more in betting shops. And ONLINE.

Hence...

Just one state-controlled like that of Malta.

ID to get in, and no more than one visit p/month for locals.

...because many Cypriots are stupid and they will ruin their families and their children will suffer, adding further to increased crime.
