Why would anyone be upset at a modern western anchored country like the Republic of Cyprus? Please. You're reading too much of what The Guardian is saying. That's the problem. The reality of all this is that the US is downplaying this incident as it does not want to affect friendly relations between Washington and Moscow:

http://www1.voanews.com/english/news/eu ... 23084.html

The State Department said Tuesday the break-up of an alleged Russian spy ring by U.S. law enforcement officials need not derail Obama administration efforts to improve relations with Moscow.

Secondly. Russian and RoC relations have never been better:

http://www.financialmirror.com/News/Cyp ... News/19498

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will be arriving in Cyprus on October 7 for a two-day official visit.

You see, Cyprus is a true bridge between east and west while Turkey is a bridge to the Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran Axis.

Have you been reading the story? If you did, you would know that the suspects are accused of using fake names.

I read a Reuters article today that talked about this. The article mentioned that officials in Moscow have acknowledged that the suspects in the alleged spy ring are indeed Russian citizens. Google it.
