How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

TCs - if you want to stop being seen as the thieves you currently are, push your leadership to come to the negotiating table with positions that are reasonable.

You are 18% of the population and own 12% of the land. Understand that you will never have an effectively independent, ethnically cleansed country on 30% of the island (even if that is what the likes of Annan and Downer promote at the request of their bosses i.e your patrons).

You can have some autonomy and administer say 27% of the land in a true federation, provided that full human rights apply, all GCs go back to their homes etc, as per the agreements in the late 1970s etc.

Or, you can propose an effectively separate state, fully Turkish, ethnically cleansed, on say 18-20% of the island (even this is generous in light of your land ownership).

Both of the above options are fair, even though painful for us, and would be acceptable by GCs at referendum in order to put the past behind.

Continue to reject fairness and demand "spoils of war" at the expense of your GC compatriots and you will continue to receive slaps on the face, as thieves should.

NO! Never sign away any part of out country. We do NOT tear up our baby of thousands of years to feed the criminals. They have to be made to understand that we will never relinquish any part of our country and only then they might leave. So stop tempting them with a possible reason to stay!

....and ... you need to be made to realise the meaning of........KISS MY ARSE.....

Bring it on, buddy.
TRNC just got a whole lot more PR with her cancelling than we ever could have with her coming. Right now, the world knows about us and they will learn the truth.
:D

Here's your publicity, she even caveated the entity by adding regime.
"Jennifer Lopez would never knowingly support any state, country, institution or regime that was associated with any form of human rights abuse."

To which I would answer:
WTF would she know? She is as ignorant of the real situation as the rest of them. However, she has made a wake-up call to the world to look into the CyProb.
Thanks J-Lo.
BTW Make the $3m cheque out to "Cash".

really scummie?...i beg to differ...

not only well informed, but she seems to be informing others....some publicity hey scummie...

Pure and simple managementspeak. It just means the flak was too heavy so they backed-down. She knows as much now about Cyprus as she did last year.
TRNC got the publicity, which others must now decide about, and the $3m back.

(Have I got a hangover!!!! ?)

This from the TorontoSun

http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment ... story.html

Jennifer Lopez has withdrawn from a gig in Cyprus after critics slammed her for agreeing to the show on the 36th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of the European island.

The singer was billed to perform at the opening of new hotel complex Cratos Premium in the Turkish Cypriot part of the popular tourist destination on July 20.

But she's scrapped the show after learning it coincides with a day islanders would rather forget, insisting she would never have agreed to the concert in the first place if she knew about the history and relevance of the date.

A representative tells TMZ.com, "After a full review of the relevant circumstances in Cyprus, it was the decision of management to withdraw from the appearance. This was a team decision that reflects our sensitivity to the political realities of the region."

Previously, officials at the Cyprus Action Network of America started a campaign calling on Lopez to scrap the gig as it falls on the anniversary of the date that Turkish troops invaded the Greek-owned island in 1974.

Vaughanwilliams, the word “TRNC” did not even appear once in any of the 5-6 articles I read! It was always “Turkish occupied…”!

You’re just hallucinating from the shock and disappointment!

Which islanders would that be, then? Greek islanders or Turkish islanders?
Once again showing that a lot of the worlds press knows only half the story (The Greek Cypriot half).

You keep going on about "we got the money back"

The owners of this hotel chain are from the mainland. What did you get apart from a bit more press that determines the correct terminology when addressing the occupied part of Cyprus rather than that bankrupt "trnc" brand you keep peddling?

Mate, quit clutching at straws its pathetic and its a little like watching a car crash right now. The whole think backfired, so keep your head down, try not to get too bothered with some of the pot shots people are gonna take at you and hope that this whole thing will be forgotten soon. I feel for you mate, really do.

You really didn't think J-Lo was ever going to come, did you? We knew you guys were going to nause it up, like you always do. We're used to it and we can take it.
Your sympathy and condolences, whilst the thought is much appreciated, are entirely misplaced.
Ref pot shots, I like to feel I can give as good as I take.
BTW This is just the sort of thing to put our Pres in a good mood. Bet your Pres is gonna love you.
