Jennifer Lopez opening hotel in occupied areas?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Gasman » Thu Jul 08, 2010 2:14 pm

Too many of today's stars wouldn't turn down the chance of an exclusive, top-notch holiday in CY and three million dollars for a couple of hours work.

GCs going there to gamble and play are paid NOTHING - imagine what they'd do for 3 million smackers?

07] Efforts to bring foreign reporters to the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus in order to cover Jennifer Lopezs performance are underway

Turkish Cypriot daily Halkin Sesi newspaper (30.06.10) reports on the visit of Jennifer Lopez to the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus in order to perform at the Cratos Premium Hotel on June 24. Speaking to the newspaper, so-called officials evaluated the arrival of Lopez to the occupied areas as a great event. Specifically, self-styled minister of tourism, Kemal Durust stated that the arrival of such artists to our country is a great advantage for both recognition and tourism. On his part, the self-styled minister of finance, Ersin Tatar noted: Let Lopez come and we will welcome her at the airport. A world star will come and a message will be given to this world. This is an amazing event.
In addition, Mehmet Dolmaci, chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Hoteliers Union (KITOB), said that Lopezs arrival to occupied Cyprus is one of the various events aiming at the promotion of the TRNC. He also expressed the hope that on the day of Lopezs arrival, the illegal airport is not closed due to the recent problems faced in the illegal Turkish Cypriot airlines. Speaking to Halkin Sesi, the former chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Travel and Tourist Agents Assosiation (KITSAB), Ozbek Dedekorkut, described Lopezs arrival as an important event and, inter alia, said that they are underway to bring some reporters from the BBC and other world-famous magazine reporters to the occupied areas of Cyprus in order to cover the event. He added that they tried to act secretly as regards Lopezs arrival, in order not to meet obstacles by the Greek Cypriots.

Furthermore, Cyprus Today newspaper (30.06.10) reports that the contract of the concert, which Jennifer Lopez will give at the invitations-only official opening of Cratos Premium Hotel located in occupied Kazafani, has recently been signed and Ms Lopez is said to have been paid three million dollars for the concert. As the paper notes, it is claimed that she will arrive in the occupied areas of Cyprus two days prior to the concert with her 80-strong entourage and will spend three days there.

In the meantime, the paper, referring to the arrival of another world-famous artist, Beyoncé, to the occupied areas of Cyprus as promised by the self-styled mayor of occupied Lefkosia, Cemal Bulutoglulari, writes: Meanwhile, Beyoncé is unlikely to follow in the footsteps of her rival [Jennifer Lopez] on stage, screen and celluloid. Mr Bulutoglulari had promised Beyoncé would perform in [occupied] Lefkosia this year after a sell-out Tarkan gig in the capital, organised by the municipality, last September. But he and municipality officials have remained tight-lipped about the prospect of the multi-millionaires coming. A letter was sent inviting Beyoncé to perform in North Cyprus [the occupied areas of the Republic of Cyprus], but she currently has no plans to tour...

Meanwhile, Onur Basturk, a magazine commentator in Turkish daily Hurriyet newspaper (online, 30.06.10), refers, inter alia, to the visit of Jennifer Lopez to occupied Cyprus and wonders who is the owner of Cratos Premium Hotel. Mr Onur Basturk writes: Contrary to what it is believed, the hotel does not belong to a foreign partnership. It is an entirely Turkish business. It is a hotel made by a constructions family coming from the Black Sea, by father Utku Bozoglu and his sons Murat and Kemal. The family is known as Boz Grubu in the sector.

Crikey Bill! You still don't get it. Of course it's a propaganda stunt. It may not make J-Lo look good, coming to TRNC, but it makes TRNC look good her coming.
Promise me you'll buck-up!

Mate, if "we" want to stay in the game, a game where the Illegal Regime, has up'd the ante with this stunt, we must must match their stake.

Of course you must! But remember, you rock the boat, you may tip yourself in the water.

In the past the GCs had a great propaganda machine with a big US diaspora lobby. The RoC gov was behind most things and financed them. In contrast, TCs have always been so laid-back they haven't given a stuff about the war of words and haven't had the money to play with the big boys.
Times have changed and they are doin' stuff that makes them look good and you look bad. In contrast, you are only doin' stuff that makes you look like you are only trying to keep the TCs under your thumb.
You've got to be in to win.

Only in the eyes of people like you the `carpetbaggers` does it look good... Still no thought of the Tcs who need finacial aid and come south for there benefits...There motherland spend millions on a hotel and a farce of an opening in an illegal state while the Tcs look on and see the north of the island being taken over by Greedy mainlanders...whats Cyrpiot about that. The rest of the world will not and have not fallen for there propaganda!!

Not sure what that has to do with the thread (I'll expect the kitchen sink soon), but I think of it quite often and it makes me laugh. They are citizens of the RoC and if they need financial aid and benefits, then the state must pay them. Not you, the state. They are your rules if you don't like them vote for someone who will change them.
Yes VW you are right they are citizens of the ROC....and are entitled to there benefits, BUT what has there motherland ever done for them...OH YES they have spent millions bringing over JLO to the part of Cyprus which they ILLEGALLY invaded!!

Read the comments of the dodgy- pseudo-pollocky-tourism "minister" in the Turkish press, there had to be a proportional response.

Anyway, speaking of the Diaspora in the USA... the New York Post is now reporting matters...

I think you'll need to give us a reference that demonstrates that the TR gov is picking-up J-Los tab. I also think you'll find that the Cratos is paying for her. The TR gov has subsidised TRNC since day one, so I reckon they've done their fair share.

It gets better. The NY Post... :D
You can just hear readers saying "I never knew Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974. I must find out what's behind this story."
They do say that ignorance is bliss. In this case their ignorance is your bliss. But when they look into it and read the whole story....the scales shall fall from their eyes.

Lets hope they do find out what happened in 74, and all the years before that. The more people know about our history the better, although I don't see where it will benefit you, a foreigner in a non-recognised state trying desprately to get excited about some money grabbing celeb coming to your host pseudo nation as if she will deliver the masses like moses to the promised land of "trnc"....wtf?

Are you hoping that somehow they'll get redirected to "Bitter Lemons"? Image

Careful! Your selfishness is showing.
Of course it won't benefit me. What on earth makes you think I support the TRNC for my own benefit. With people like GCs around, they need all the support they can get.
I have told you: We are not excited about J-Lo coming to TRNC, we are overjoyed at your reaction (hurling all your toys out the pram) to her coming.
On this occasion I really do think that you have shit and stepped back in it.
