LOPEZ SPARKS OUTRAGE OVER CYPRUS PERFORMANCE

JENNIFER LOPEZ has come under fire for accepting an invite to perform at the opening of a new hotel complex in northern Cyprus - because the launc h coincides with the 36th anniversary of the Turkish invasion of the isla nd.
The Jenny From The Block hitmaker has been booked to play at the openin g night of the luxurious Cratos Premium in the Turkish Cypriot part of th e popular tourist destination.
But the news has been met with outrage by officials at the Cyprus Actio n Network of America, who have started a campaign calling on Lopez to scr ap the gig as it falls on the 20 July (10) - the date that Turkish troops invaded the Greek-owned island in 1974.A letter of petition from the Cyprus Action Network of America reads, " It is with dismay and shock that the people of Cyprus and especially the Greek Cypriot women in the Republic of Cyprus and elsewhere in the world heard the news that you intend to attend the inauguration of a hotel in t he occupied by Turkey (sic) part of our native country.
"The Turks go to a great length to secure support from people like you in order to promote their political ambitions and objectives. Does your c haritable work and status permit you to give credibility to Turkish rapis ts, thieves, invaders, occupiers of our stolen properties?"

Not very credible journalism I say. And in BC's 3rd link, is a copy paste of the same article but have changed the 'Greek-owned island' to 'Greek island'. Some one should let them know that this is CYPRIOT OWNED ISLAND!!!

Regretfully that guess is the way with modern journalists, who seem to pick up on the same original news-feed from a press agency, change a few words and publish.

If Eric was around perhaps he'd confirm this (or otherwise).

In any event, news of the protests (even if it is the same news re-hashed) has gone global.

And there is no such thing as bad publicity. Hopefully, this will bring present day Cyprus into the world political spotlight whilst leaving the sad history as just that - history. History is water under the bridge. What counts is what you do next, not what went before.

No such thing as bad publicity...? .... Right.... For an International Artist, some one with associations to women's rights, helping out the earthquake victims over in Haiti, some one who in short pays out a small fortune every year for image and good publicity?

Would any kind member within easy distance of VW's please go over and help him.... he seems to have got his head stuck down a Turkish Toilet again.

Trust you to get the wrong end of the stick.
I wasn't talking about J.Lo, ref publicity, I was talking about TRNC.
Kick up a fuss about someone as famous as her visiting and ask people to try to stop her coming and some of them might just ask "why?"
Careful they don't take your version of the "truth" with a pinch of salt.
In the mean time, TRNC gets loads of free publicity, like you couldn't buy.

You really are a bit of a simpleton mate, if you don't mind me saying.

That's OK, mate. Perhaps a genius like you could fault my logic?

J. Lo is on a promise for $3m.
Before she arrives TRNC gets loads of free air time.
You kick up such a fuss she doesn't come.
TRNC gets all that free air time AND keeps the $3m.
Tell me where I'm going wrong here..

Sorry mate, you can't expect to be spoon-fed all the time. You're a big boy now so go figure out your faults for yourself.

Hey Bill!

Walking away isn't the same as scoring a point. Stay and tell me where I'm wrong.

WTF!

Right, let's get this right you post at 2pm and then bugger off for an Efes and a nap and return at 7pm during which time I have posted three times on this thread and you accuse me of walking away??? All there on this page above.

Do you remember we spoke on the subject of publicity yesterday.. You had bugger all of a reply to it yesterday.. and so... OMG! ... would you believe it.!.... you buggered off then, .....you sulked away then, ...and now you've come back and you're re-vomitting the same pollocks.

Now go away and sit on your Turkish Toilet and try and work out the diff between Good Publicity and Bad Publicity.

And what is this free publicity saying?

It is raising awaresness that there is a situation (division) in Cyprus that many don't know about. Everyone knows there is always at least 2 sides to a story and yours is only one of them.

So what's your side of the story?

Well, I guess it ain't the same one you subscribe to.

Is it the same one the Orams would subscribe to?

Worlds attention will gradually be turned to the TRNC and its plight whether she visits or not, in this case it cannot be bad publicity. She is a world star going to take stage in the biggest and most lavish hotel on the whole island, your moaning and groaning will just bring more and more media to the event, the owners of Cratos Premium Hotel must love you idiots.

Oh dear no wonder Mala gives up on you two sometimes.

Look I'll try and make it easy for you and VW (who's run off again)....

The USAF nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and within our life-times napalmed the shite out of Vietnam.. It got a lot of publicity, we all know about these events don't we? Good or Bad Publicity?????

OR

Perhaps VP and VW would like to look at the case of the Mongol Genghis Khan who murdered and raped his way across much of the world, he would have got a load of publicity out of that... Good or Bad Publicity???

or

Staleen?

or

Heetler?
