Jennifer Lopez opening hotel in occupied areas?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Gasman » Tue Jul 06, 2010 8:09 am

It says on that online Petition:

Please let Ms. Lopez know that her participation in this event is not acceptable to her fans and supporters.

But hardly anyone here sounds like they are a fan of JLo - going on the disparaging comments made about her lack of talent, her appearance etc.

Perhaps they should start another petition for her 'detractors' to sign?

You did a bad and stupid thing, giving your money to crooks in exchange for being allowed to trespass on other people's land.

No amount of wriggling can mitigate your misdemeanour, excuse your foolishness, or ease your conscience. You will pay for what you've done, in this life or the next.

The Jenny From The Block hitmaker has been booked to play at the openin g night of the luxurious Cratos Premium in the Turkish Cypriot part of th e popular tourist destination.
But the news has been met with outrage by officials at the Cyprus Actio n Network of America, who have started a campaign calling on Lopez to scr ap the gig as it falls on the 20 July (10) - the date that Turkish troops invaded the Greek-owned island in 1974.
A letter of petition from the Cyprus Action Network of America reads, " It is with dismay and shock that the people of Cyprus and especially the Greek Cypriot women in the Republic of Cyprus and elsewhere in the world heard the news that you intend to attend the inauguration of a hotel in t he occupied by Turkey (sic) part of our native country.
"The Turks go to a great length to secure support from people like you in order to promote their political ambitions and objectives. Does your c haritable work and status permit you to give credibility to Turkish rapis ts, thieves, invaders, occupiers of our stolen properties?"

I gave no money to any crooks.
My misdemeanours don't need mitigating.
My foolishness doesn't need excusing and my conscience doesn't need easing.
We will ALL pay for what we have done in this life in the next life.

I'm not at all sure what the "Anatolian..Twist" is, but it doesn't sound like any of my favourite perversions. As Woody Allen said when asked if sex was dirty, he replied "It is if you are doing it right".
Maybe your sex isn't dirty enough Milti.

Not very credible journalism I say. And in BC's 3rd link, is a copy paste of the same article but have changed the 'Greek-owned island' to 'Greek island'. Some one should let them know that this is CYPRIOT OWNED ISLAND!!!

Not very credible at all, but a misconception happily fostered upon many people around the world and an ignorance which "justifes and validates" accompanying views and claims against TR and TCs. Once you "accept" that Cyprus was/is a "Greek owned" island, all else sympathetic to the cause follows easily.

Regretfully that guess is the way with modern journalists, who seem to pick up on the same original news-feed from a press agency, change a few words and publish.

If Eric was around perhaps he'd confirm this (or otherwise).

In any event, news of the protests (even if it is the same news re-hashed) has gone global.
