Moving from UK to Cyprus, few questions, HELP!

Postby Jen. » Tue Jun 29, 2010 10:41 am

Hey guys!

Im Jen, im 24 and just took redunancy after 8years working and wanting a wee change of scenery for a year or so before settling into another career...

Basically im looking to move over to Cyrpus and hopefully do some bar work. Thing is i have no experience atal but starting next week in a pub here to get some sort of bar work experience before moving over...

Im just wondering if anyone could give me a few tips, like how hard is it to get bar work? Is it easy enough renting a place etc? Whats the cost of living like? And where is the best place to look for a job?

Ill be going over hopefully in september for a few weeks holiday to try scope the place out abit, decide where i want to stay and hopefully find a nice wee pub willing to give me a chance!

Also is there any particular place thats better for gays and lesbians? Id like to move somewhere that i can still go out in gay bars!

Oh and also id be moving over myself....

Thanks for any advice :)

Hey... Well i was thinking itll be much easier in summer, but im hoping to move over for more than just a few months, more like a year at least if all goes well.... Its just the way things have worked out with my work and my leaving date unfortunately i cant get over sooner, but id need something more permanant than just the summer you know. I was thinking possibly Larnaca? But i really dont know as im only going by what i can see on the internet and through talking to folk, and the information i have isnt the greatest! Is there any place that is busier throughout the whole year rather than just the summer? If you know what i mean?

Assuming that you are talking about RoC, you will find that there are plenty of gay bars catering for the local lads, most of which are yet to come out of the closet. I'm also sure that, with a little encouragement, you will have many gay frinds as most Greek Cypriot men have a natural genetic predisposition towards promiscuous homosexuality, George Michael being a classic example.
Good luck and keep your pecker up.

:D

Lol ok well first of all i get the feeling youz think im a guy for whatever reason lol, im a girl looking for lesbian bars! And genrally gay friendly areas.

And no not just looking for someone to fuck! Just some likeminded people. Back here i have way more gay friends than straight and only tend to go out gay clubbing, so thats why i was looking for a 'gay area' obviously anything else is a bonus but that is not the primary reason!! And to be quite honest i dont see why you said from my post you understood thats my main concern, because i asked quite a few questions before i even mentioned i was gay, that was just a bonus! So think youv really picked me up all wrong!

As for bar work, its the only thing i can think of that is readily available and you dont need much experience for. I have a trade behind me but i dont want to carry that forward. Im basically coming out of one career and dont want to head right into another. I have a bit of money behind me and i want to take a year out to enjoy myself and get some bar work and night and enjoy my days relaxing before coming back home and pursuing a career in the police. Is there much wrong with that? If i wanted someone to fuck i could move anywhere i wanted yes, but as i said, that really isnt my main concern!

May I know why did you choose Cyprus? Why not go to London or Amsterdam or Mykonos?
Why your aspiration is to be a barman? You have not ever tried. So you already have clear ideas?
Are you worried about not finding some fuck..don't worry..you can get what you want.
The problem could arise if someone tries to fuck yourself by paying little,
so you have to work twice.

Hi Jen

Yes, the post was deleted as inappropriate; it was writen by someone, who's first language is not English, so perhaps that might explain how it was read - and how it was responded to, and the fact they did not unserstand the abbreviation of your name, as a girl.

We are a pretty tolerant lot here, but there are limits....
