Are you aware of the CIA's "stay-behing" operation?
The network of paramilitary/terrorist groups the US setup in the 50's to "combat" terrorism in Europe & Turkey. The were engaged in killings of political persons, liberal voices etc.
"In the 1950s, the United States was concerned that the Soviet
Union would conquer much of Western Europe. The CIA and the
Pentagon came up with a plan to establish secret resistance groups
within various Western European countries that would fight back
against the predicted Soviet occupation. These groups were called
"stay behind" organizations: little cells of paramilitary units that
would take on the Soviets behind enemy lines. Belgium, France,
Holland, Greece, Italy, and Germany have all acknowledged that
they participated in the covert network.
The United States funded these stay behind groups for decades.
Even though there was no Soviet occupation, some of the groups
did take up arms--against leftwing dissidents in their own
countries. Some descendants of these groups are still at it,
especially in Turkey."

These were the people believed responsible for the murder of politician Lambrakis in Greece in 1963. Then for the Coup d'Etat in 1967 which was CIA's plan in case of communist insurgence in Greece.
Do you know that Mr. Denktash flue to Turkey and met with the "stay behind" paramilitary group there to connect it with the terrosist organisation TMT which he had formed in Cyprus.
In November 1957 TMT was formed by the crown prosecutor Mr. Rauf Denktas, Kemal Tarnisevnti and Mpourhan Nalmantoglou (apologies for the spellings). End of December Denktas and Kucuk went to Ankara with the mission to connect TMT with the Turkish "Gladius" and then met with General Ntanis Karampelen in hotel "Modern Palas". The general had served in Korea in 1952-1953 and when he came back he was placed in the Turkish branch of "stay-behind"
In 1958 the Command of TMT Turkey was formed and in July the Command of TMT Cyprus. In the same year Buruskan (not sure about spelling) arived in the island as an inspector of the Bank of Labour with 11 acting officers and 14 backups which appeared as teachers and school inspectors. Buruskan was also called Bozkurt i.e. grey wolf which was the insignia of TMT. The ship "Elmas" starting making rounds to Kokkina with weapons for Cyprus.
To make a long storry short the Greek branch of "stay behind" started making contact with Grivas. EOKA-B is considered of taking direct orders from the "stay-behind" branch in Greece. As well as Nikos Sampson was believed to have relations with the CIA.....
