FYI, 3rd world citizens cannot own more than 1 residential property in Cyprus.

Really? Until recently, Brits weren't supposed to own more than 1 residential property in Cyprus. But countless numbers of them did. Told by the property developers and lawyers here that it would not come to light until TITLE DEEDS WERE ISSUED. And, by then, Cyprus would have been in the EU long enough for it not to be able to apply the law relating to it.

And you obviously think I am making this up. As I said, my daughter worked for an Iranian in Limassol, he had a supermarket, a taverna and other businesses here.

And the Iranian I was with today owns MANY properties in Larnaca. You need to get out more.

When did Cypriots ever take any notice of what was 'allowed'?

They are going to find before too long that they have to shape up to a lot of EU laws and regs though.

There is a very big misconception amongst British ex-pats here about what is covered by EU law. Many seem to think that everything is, it isn't!

There are many things we can still control which EU legislation has nothing to do with.

Oh yeah - and when I lived in Limassol, I lived in an apartment owned by an Omani from Oman who was then living in South Africa. And he owned the apartment next door to me as well - his daughter lived in that one. AND he owned a house elsewhere in Limassol where his ex wife still lived. Those apartments were over 20 yrs old and lots of them had Arabic owners. I was told that the area used to be known as an 'Arab Quarter' years ago. Lots of Lebanese live there now.

I'm quite gobsmacked that a Cypriot of all people should be convinced that Cypriots take any notice of the law.

As my Cypriot Solicitor here in Cyprus is fond of saying whenever a stumbling block is run into - 'Don't worry, THERE'S WAYS ROUND IT' :D

My Bank Manager here takes much the same attitude too.
