18 cats poisoned by 'animal-hating psychopath' in two-mile radius

Eighteen cats in one town have died after being poisoned with anti-freeze – triggering a warning to owners to keep their pets indoors.
There are fears they are being targeted by an animal-hating maniac.
Seven from neighbouring terraced houses in one street in Bridgwater, Somerset, have died in the last week alone. It follows a spate of 11 deaths four months ago, two miles away.

For once, can't we thrash out a debate on evidence available pro or anti practices in Cyprus or UK (of interest on this forum) without some Gasbag turning it personal?

I am happy to hear the gripes about Cyprus and, if able, counter with newspaper articles of similar events in the UK to achieve some sense of balance.

I was 100% sure that idiots will list up articles showing animal cruelties all over the world just to prove that cyprus is NORMAL. Get lost guys i am not interested in this, and no i am not english or american. but i have to admit that without foreigners on this island (especially english) this island would sanked already or the inhabitants would have shot eachother decades ago.

All animal shelters are run by foreigners or cypriots educated abroad. In fact - all civilized initiatives, cultural happenings and developments are coming from either foreigners or again cypriots educated abroad.

Everyone knows that cypriots have absolutely no education about how to treat animals. Locals that are too stingy to spay their pets will drop the puppies or kittens either off the highway or the ones who heard of sanctuaries on the doorstep of an english sanctuary because they know that SOMEONE ELSE will take care of them.

I am not english but i respect them for their effort . The real shame is that there is neither proper legislation against these idiots who place the poison on the street front of a house with toddlers (in a civilized country you would get into jail for that because you endanger human life) AND there is absolutely no measures to be expected from the police. They ask if I can prove who did it. Excuse me? Isnt it the police who shall investigate and suspect???? And this 2 together shows the attitude of your country.

This is very disappointing. Even more disappointing is that YOU guys dont say: " I hope she will get better and yes its sad and post it around so people will be aware"..... NO. you guys say: this is normal everywhere in the world, this is completely ok.... You will never get it. You lack of proper education.

I don't think, under the circumstances Selena was OTT in her reactions and what she said.

It's OK for you to express hateful generalisations about ALL Brits and foreigners living in Cyprus, and to hate ALL TCs because SOME OF THEM did stuff you hated. OK to hate ALL TURKS too.

But not OK to generalise about CYPRIOTS at all. Not for any reason.

People would've taken a more sympathetic view to your story if you hadn't gone and attacked the entire country.

I dit not come here for sympathy - i can flush that on the toilet or can burry it with my dog. its useless. My aim is to make people aware - civilized cypriots and civilized foreigners that the general attitude in this country with regard to animal welfare is sick - and there are many uncivilized and ignorant idiots out there - MUCH MORE in numbers than in other countries.

Use a mussle wherever you go EVEN IN YOUR OWN STREET in the middle of nicosia - because yes there are CYPRIOTS placing poison front of your house on purpose.

And read my original post again. I said i hate all uncivilized cypriots. I dont know you but if you feel targetet, you are welcome.
