Here you go, will give you some idea, I live the eastern side of Cyprus and it can be slower/faster depending on where you are located in Cyprus

Unless you want to use a transformer on each of your appliances, you're going to have to replace.

The 240v here in Cyprus will not suit your equipment. Laptops work because their adaptor is universal and can accept 100 - 240v inputs.

The frequceny here is also 50Hz, Canada is 60Hz, in most cases this is not critical,, but may affect things like TVs. Your TV will not work unless you have a multisystem one.

If you are coming to Cyprus to work to live, be prepared for some tough times. Wages are lower, but also the cost of living is cheaper than many. Food is expensive, as well as electronics, cars and various others.

The grants you are trying to get will mean you have to jump through many hoops and you could wait for a year to get anything agreed. You need to start with Citizenship (if you don't have), Refugee ID, application forms at 'Merimnas', interviews, and then wait.

Also depends on what your skill levels and type of job you do, as to whether you can get a job easily or not. Whatever you decide, living in Cyprus outweighs the money

Enjoy and good luck. Where is your family from??

When i was living in Cyprus, i used Primetel. I had the phone and internet package. Relatively good internet speed and paid about i think 40 euros a month. They also offer an Internet, TV, and phone package for just 10 more euros but i heard complaints about not getting good TV reception during peak hours. You also have Cytanet, the largest internet service provider in the RoC and there is also OTEnet.

I use Cytanet - costs a fair bit more than 40 euros a month. Upload speed is abysmal.

Cyta told me a few years ago that once more people in Cyprus started using the internet, their prices would come down.

Lots more people use it now (back then you could not get it in lots of places in Cyprus, now you can get it almost everywhere). But prices don't seem to be coming down.

unless your equipment is valuable to you forwhatever reason, you'll find what you need there, without the need for adapters etc. one thing, the telephone system (cellular) is different to Canada, and in some ways more advanced.

cheers!

enjoy, the beer ice cold; KEO is a brut, my favorite, Carslberg is as good as a Molson Canadian.
bring Maple Syrup, and a hockey stick, Cypriots play, although there are few of them.
eh?
