Can you explain why Welsh clubs Swansea and Cardiff play in the English league then? And why these four seperate countries compete at the Olympics as one country?

Also Berwick Rangers, from the English border town of Berwick, play in the Scottish league as does the local rugby union club. The town's changed hands between Scotland and England many times during the wars of the past and a couple of years ago the people voted by a majority to return to Scotland. No wonder as they would probably get better public services and democracy if they did. I reckon we could retake the town without too many problems. :)

When you come from a place called from Auchtermuchty, as did Jimmy Shand, you're pretty much guaranteed to speak for Scotland.

The Scots one is different ... In fact, they have TWO! :D

Aye, and nae wonder considering the line in God Save the Queen referring to "rebellious Scots to crush". :)

Can you imagine something similar happening in Cyprus?

Well, it's the longest anthem in the world, so I'm sure it says lots of things. But, the domesticated, poetic translation by Rudyard Kipling shouldn't offend anyone! :D

We knew thee of old,
O, divinely restored,
By the lights of thine eyes,
And the light of thy Sword.

From the graves of our slain,
Shall thy valour prevail,
As we greet thee again,
Hail, Liberty! Hail!

It's by no means faithful to the original. It may as well be another poem all together.

This should be the CY Anthem, says it all really ..... ( our O's fav)....

It's melodic, pleasant and yet it still has a degree of pathos...

It's bloody PAPHOS!

No, I said it was "domesticated". Nothing wrong with updating the lyrics to suit the times and different ethnicities which want to integrate with the native Greek Cypriots! :D
