Bayrak Television’s 1st channel can now be watched in Australia, thanks to a cooperation protocol signed between Bayrak Radio Television Corporation and Turk-Plus, Australia’s first and only Turkish news broadcasting channel.
Viewers across Australia can now watch BRT 1st full day broadcasts by tuning onto the Turk-Plus platform.
A three year cooperation protocol was signed between BRTK and Turk Plus on the 9th of June.

The establishment of Bayrak Radio Television dates back to the events of December 1963 when inter communal violence between the Greek and Turkish communities effectively ended co-operative ventures. Until that time, the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) had been jointly run by Turkish and Greek Cypriots. Therefore, in the eyes of the Turkish community, it became urgent for them to have their own radio station as the Greek Cypriots had taken over the CyBC.................................

Doubtless, few Aussie Turkish speaking Cypriots will object to BRTK's insistence on calling us 'Turks of Cyprus'... even though it has caused anger in Cyprus and in the UK.

But then again the few Aussie Cyps that I have met are stuck in 1964....
