Cymart, I take another view. Most people would not believe that a better deal can be found at some distant point in the future. If the land issue (territory and properties) is better than the super complicated Annan deal, I think most people will vote yes this time round.

The land issue had been the most important issue for the man in the street since day one. The constitutional niceties of federation versus confederation did not mean much. If Christofias and Eroglu put together a simpler and fairer land deal than Annan this plan then success is more probable than failure. We will know by Deccember in any case.

I hear wispers that the property aspect of the solution was put there by the UN, TPapa did not object to it so UN assumed that would be acceptable. Little did they realise that that was what he was bakning on to turn the GC against the plan. Why the hell didn't Tpapa ask for a better deal than the property aspect of the plan. Who is kidding who here. He could have also ask for the whole of Krapaz and would have got it.

Shame and double shame for the only and lost opporotunity in our lifetime.

RoC is renting it a Bafiti GC. This is only 2 piece in Bodamya total 30 donums.
The rest all in the hands of the roc being rented to GCs.

So it is managed by the TC properties trustee, your title is good. Have you sought possession and been refused? The rules are that if you return and establish residence in the RoC you get repossession of your land. Several TC families did just that and the GC occupiers were evicted. Failing residence there is no hope I guess.

It is easier said then done. I have earned nothing from these lands and roc has collected the rent and never paid me a penny. Now I have to pay all the tax up front before I can claim the land. It's not just that, there is lots more for the rest of the family, what if we can't afford the tax? After all I have earned nothing from this land since 1963.

YFred, my take on the lands issue is that all back taxes etc will be done away with in the event of a settlement. If each side starts demanding taxes and other such bullshit the details will bog down the system.

But if you want to regain possession is the tax such a big sum that it stops you? I assume this is an inheritance tax thing and it is usually affordable. As for the rents collected, I think that you are entitled to some part of that.

It all depends what you mean by it's not a lot. There is 200 donums in the hands of the roc. Do you know how much tax that entails? Can you afford it?
