Signing of Agreement on the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone between Cyprus and Israel

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Markos Kyprianou, and the Minister of National Infrastructures of Israel, Mr Uzi Landau, signed today, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Agreement on the Delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone between Cyprus and Israel.

Prior to the signing of the Agreement, Minister Kyprianou, Minister Landau and the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr Antonis Paschalides, had a meeting, in which delegations from the two countries also participated.

Later, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will host a luncheon in honour of the Israeli Minister of National Infrastructures.

Cyprus, Israel define sea border for energy search

NICOSIA — Cyprus and Israel signed an agreement Friday that defines their sea border and allows the neighbours to forge ahead in the search for energy sources in the eastern Mediterranean.

The agreement, which delineates an exclusive economic zone between the two countries, was signed in Nicosia by Cypriot Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou and Israeli Minister of National Infrastructure Uzi Landau.

the reason is showed here : there's a lovely huge oil field located in east mediterranean , now renamed Exlusive Economic Zone :wink:

Cyprus, Israel sign deal demarcating sea borders

Cyprus and Israel signed an accord Friday demarcating their maritime borders to facilitate a search for mineral deposits in the east Mediterranean where huge natural gas reserves have been discovered.

Cyprus Foreign Minister Markos Kyprianou and National Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau signed the deal in the island's capital. No statements were made after the signing.

I ask myself that too. Perhaps something to do with the 'boundaries' indicated on the map above. I note that the area immediately east of Famagusta district (legal btw) has not been included on the map. Is this a deliberate 'mapping' decision or a tacit acceptance of the northern regime. Perhaps they wish not to antagonise Turkey further? Flippin eck, I hate politics. :lol: I wonder what GRs response is?

Gotta pick a pocket or two boys ... gotta pick a pocket or two! :lol:

Some of the embracing of the israelis on here makes me think of that movie with a Muslim Homer Simpson who finds out he was adopted and that his birth parents were Orthodox Jews lol!

Wait till the direction of the wind changes. These are only temporary alliances. The USA has no more need for Turkey so where has the alliance gone.? In a puff of smoke.

If Turkey and Greece play their cards right, together with Cyprus, they can be a force to reckon with.(economical and political) But they lack the vision.
