Pete, what kind of a Cypriot are you if you are unable to de-bone a leg of lamb and then chop it up into cubes?

One that leaves his meat on the bone; you try going through a shoulder with nowt but a paring knife :P

What difference does it make so long as it has a point and it is sharp? You are not supposed to cut through the bone, you are supposed to follow it and strip the meat.

Best Butchers Shop N. London?

Sorry cant remember name and maybe no longer in existance but it was a very small butchers shop next to the large Turkish bakery in Green Lanes, former dog stadium end of Green Lanes and I think almost opposite Barclays Bank.
Shop had a British name but owners?/employees were all Cypriot and knew exactly what was wanted when asked for souvla or any other cut favoured by the ex-pat community. Meat was always of the best quality and their 'in house' Loukanika were to die for :D rounding off nicely a traditional full 'English' breakfast of bacon eggs mushrooms tomatoes and of course halloumi washed down with considerable amounts of industrial standard tea :!:

My once every two week employer financed visits to N. London to stock up on the essentials for the Windsor Cypriot outpost stopped with the introduction of strict parking regulations to the surrounding side streets, struggling with a couple of large water melon and the rest of the provisions proved too much and a pensioners wheelie shopping bag/trolly just would not take the weight as well as not quite fitting the thrusting young management type image that I was then keen to portray.

Any N. London colonials know or remember the the name of that Butchers Shop :?:

The Harringay butcher near the dog stadium in my day was Savvas butcher.

The other major butcher and a very good friend is Dilaver Mehmet and his brothers. They moved from retail to preparation of donner for the restaurant trade.

Never trust a butcher next to a dog track unless in Korea....
