UN's Ban proposes moves to foster progress in talks

Postby Acikgoz » Thu Jun 10, 2010 12:56 pm

Setting up economic, social, cultural, sports and other ties between the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities can play a crucial role in promoting progress in the reunification talks under way on the Mediterranean island, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said.

"Such contacts would nurture a sentiment of trust between the communities and help to ease the sense of isolation felt by the Turkish Cypriots," Mr. Ban wrote in his latest report on the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Cyprus (UNFICYP), the UN News Centre said.

He emphasised that enhanced economic and social parity between the sides will make "the eventual reunification not only easier but also more likely."

Now that's not a bad idea...

Re-unification can only begin when the suffocation is removed. Till then all we can manage is Sweet Fotball Association..

Mr Ban needs to STFU and go read the UN charter again.

What a tosser, he should be ensuring the the rules and resolutions of the UN are upheld and stop making ridiculous requests about things he does not understand.

He has failed at his job to uphold the work of the good offices of the UN.

Plonker!

Hey, that's a start, and if memory serves me correctly we've agreed once before too.

This could be the type of bond forming Ban is referring too.

Good luck to us all :)
