“OBJECTIVE IS TO CONCLUDE TALKS BY END OF 2010”

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

“OBJECTIVE IS TO CONCLUDE TALKS BY END OF 2010”

Postby halil » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:38 am

The TRNC President Derviş Eroğlu has repeated that the Turkish Side’s goal is to conclude the Cyprus negotiations by the end of this year. Criticizing the Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias for postponing last week’s face-to-face meeting, President Eroğlu said “it will not be possible to reach a settlement by the end of the year if Christofias does not attend the talks by setting a statement I issued as an excuse”.

Speaking during a visit paid to him yesterday, the President said that despite the Greek Cypriot Side’s tricks, the Turkish Cypriot Side had no intention of abandoning the negotiation table.

“We are sitting at the table to reach a solution. Only time will tell if we shall be able to solve the problem. I’m saying it’s wrong to abandon the negotiation table just because you are disturbed by a sentence included in a statement” he added.

Referring to the UN Secretary General’s draft report recommending the extension of the UNFICYP’s mandate, the President welcomed the reference made in the report to an end of year deadline for the talks.

He complained that the Greek Cypriot Side is against timetables and arbitration, but warned that the talks cannot be continued forever.

He hasn't even started the talks with south cypriots how does he expect to conclude them until the end of the year? Let the partition talks begin asap.

...after thirty-five years of Denktash, suddenly the "Turks" are impatient; laughable.

Hold your horses Runaway. If Turkey can pass 24 laws in 4 days they can conclude by the end of the year. Where there is a will there is a way and all that.

As if even the TC negotiator was Izcan; Magaryos or Gibriyanu or Gliridis or TPapa or even Chris would have agreed for a just solution as it was envisaged in UN resolutions... really very laughable!!!

Repulse is too blind to see the intransigency of Greko-phones... Why? Could it be because he is a Greko-Phone too?

Does anybody believe that Eroglu believes his own words????

Look, it is simple...Cyprus problem will never be solved...Or to put it another way, there is no Cyprus problem, it has been solved long ago...Anybody who still believes there can be a just and lasting solution that both sides would agree upon need their heads examined...

This parrot is not sleeping or tired or emotional...It is dead.....Full stop, make that 6 full stops :!:

YFred, firstly i must thank-you for not calling me a Greek, indeed i am grecophone. secondly, the Annan Plan takes its position on a long list of proposals, all i might add crafted by caring people from the good offices of the UN. only Denktash in these other cases was sited for his refusal to negociate by every Secretary General over such a long period of time.

Birki, if it were true, what you say, we would have had "Peace in our time". it is not an issue of "Greek" vs. "Turk".

No mate..We will never have peace in our time...I have given up...Cypriots are too much like their donkeys...Loud,stubborn ,and hateful...You bet this is not about Greek or Turk...It is about the cursed people called Cypriots...The sooner there is a war and they are all wiped off the face of the earth the better for humanity...Sorry,RW...That is where some "Cypriots" have finally driven me... :(

I hope the island sinks as a whole and we live happily with our Greek brothers. Let's make the Aegean a sea of peace.
