Gosh...
Well guess day to day Life is a bit of a monotonous routine so look to two or three interests to take brain on to higher levels ....
Fishing... (and know some of you will laugh at this) is totally engrossing. A day on the river or lake-side is a real treat to look forward to, to prepare for, and where there is no time or inclination to think of life's normal drudgery. A totally immersing past-time.
Football... (erm.. on the telly)..., the raw neolithic tribalism, the excitement of a goal, the thrill of final victory. Makes me glow with satisfaction if my side wins .... and so depressed if we lose, but both ways takes the mind off life's minor problems.... and it's great to scream at the telly.
Reading... usually a fishing book, or old travel diaries of travels through an England of a different time, or heavy science text-books, or esoteric English History... usually just before bedtime to aid sleep, and to repair the brain cells.
