Cypurs in December - advise please

Postby nthompson » Fri Jul 29, 2005 1:33 pm

Hi there all!

My hubby and I usually holiday in Protaras during the summer every year. However, as we got married this year and spent out honey moon in Jamaica, we aren't able to go to Cyprus for a summer holiday.

So we were thinking of going for Christmas.

Can you please tell me how lively Cyprus is in December and what sort of temperatures we'd be likely to enjoy?

Many Thanks

Hi Nic,

I definately would not recommend Protaras, Ayia Napa or Paralimni at Christmas time. If you really want to come to Cyprus then stick to Limassol, Nicosia or Larnaca.
I'm in Limassol and Christmas is OK here but if your used to the fantastic shop windows, christmas lights, roasts etc etc then don't come to Cyprus at Christmas as its not celebrated in so much depth like the UK.
Easter is our big celebration here!

The big hotels always arrange nice things to do for the kids in the day (xmas related) and nice festive dinners in the evenings.

I would say the temperture is around 21 degrees (give or take a couple!)

Hope I've been some help to you!!

Welcome to the forum anyway.

Hi esamuels and welcome to the forum,

Buying property will always be a sound investment and i believe in the next 2 years prices will rise sharply as cyprus takes on the euro and interest rates etc. set by the E.U.

Hi Errol

Christmas is just fine in Paphos, few places shut down for the Winter here so there is still loads fo clubs and restaurants to choose from.

Personally, I could do with some Winter weather now; it was 32C in my villa last night when I went to bed. I have now resorted to 3am swimming each day!

Hi Nic!!!

Temperatures are quite comfortable. It's not of course warm, but with a footer you'll be just fine!

I'd recommend Limassol for xmas. The best hotels, really nice restaurants/cafes etc. Not that many tourists in Dec but still a very nice xmas atmosphere and the locals are out all the time.
