How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Europe's the white bits!

The following countries and territories are also often considered as European (Note: European - not IN EUROPE)

* Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Georgia, and Turkey, classified as Asian countries by the United Nations Statistics Division, are also often considered as European countries, since their territories are either partly in Europe or in the vicinity of Europe (for the geographical boundaries between Asia and Europe, see here), and they have close political and historical ties with Europe (e.g., they are members of the Council of Europe).
* Abkhazia, Nagorno-Karabakh, Northern Cyprus, and South Ossetia, all sovereign states lacking general international recognition, are also often considered as European countries.
* Akrotiri and Dhekelia is also often considered as a European territory.

Atlas is Greek. The first map of the known world was drawn by a Greek. Asia Minor belongs to the Greeks. Cyprus is part of the Greek World. What the Greeks say about cartography stands! 8) The rest is shifting political and geographical semantics.

It's like having an exchange with an amoeba whose eastern Greek mother chain-smoked during pregnancy. I am what I am and Cyprus is what it is. But since you're so geographically challenged, here's a map of the eastern Mediterranean:

Archbishop Chrysostomos II, the leader of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, accused Turkey of an “obscure plan” to take over the entire island and called for the pope’s “active cooperation” in resolving the longstanding dispute.

It didn't mention what it mentions in the US press (News.com - Voice of America):

After the mass, the pontiff distributed a working paper ahead of a synod for Middle Eastern bishops in Rome in October, which stated "The Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is creating difficulties in everyday life, inhibiting freedom of movement, the economy and religious life."

On Saturday, the pope had an unscheduled encounter with Sheikh Nazim, the 89-year-old head of the Islamic Naqshbandi sect based in the Turkish-controlled north of Cyprus.

The two men held a warm, but brief conversation before exchanging gifts. Nazim told reporters "may Allah grant him a good life here and hereafter".

Benedict left the island promising to pray for the people of Cyprus, who have lived in an ethnically divided state for 36-years.

He had not referred directly to the Cyprus conflict in his speeches since arriving Friday in Paphos. "I have seen for myself something of the sad division of the island, as well as learning of the loss of a significant part of a cultural heritage which belongs to all humanity. I have also listened to Cypriots from the north who wish to return in peace to their homes and places of worship, and I have been deeply moved by their pleas," he said.

Turkey is not in the EU. But, part of Turkey IS in Europe.

I don't understand why some get so 'hung up' about Cyprus being referred to as being in Asia, or the Middle East.

You seem obsessed with this issue and I just can’t understand why!

Christians want to stick with Christians, just as Muslims want to stick with Muslims. Common sense really…

It’s called racism and it’s built into the nature of every human being so get over it!

I hope you don’t go on about this again with maps and stuff because it’s pointless…
