Lost our lemons as did several of the neighbours, should have left me feeling quite bitter but with no lemons thats not been possible.

Not funny really.

Lots of petty crime here in Larnaca too this past year or so. From car content theft, to nicking other people's water and a few weeks ago 3 first floor apartments up the road were broken into. Theives used a ladder to get onto the verandahs and robbed them while they slept in their beds!

It's usually empty apartments that you hear of being broken into. First time I've heard about anyone being burgled whilst they slept.

Please dont remind me.........

Not really meant to be funny Gasman, I'm pissed off about the lemons especially as I personally donated between 1 and 1 1/2 litres daily of my finest urine to their development. Hope that makes the thieving bar steward gag on his souvlaki or fish meze :D

Loved living in Larnaca for almost twenty years, easy town close to the beach etc, all f****d Up by a nasty bent copper now dead and his business associates, crime as you descibe it would have been welcome compared to their antics. Six years now in the village and the lemons are the only loss we've suffered. The last burgalry here was several years ago, the thieves were caught the police were not involved and strangely there have been no further robberies

OK - I originally said it wasn't really funny.

But it is now!

I'm being serious now, got the idea from a film about the motorcycle land speed record, Anthony Hopkin played the elderly real life New Zealand racer dipicted in the film and each morning he would personally water his one lemon tree. Worked for him and it worked well for me, so well in fact that the lemons looked good enough to nick

Both true and with the added bonus of not having to flush the bog and waste water, thank heavens for wide mouthed plastic milk bottles 8)

Must admit that I never told the wife or any of the relatives who frequently turn up both from the core of the 'Centre of the Universe' and its UK colony on 'feed us and what fresh fruit and veg have you got expeditions' :P

Giving a whole new meaning to the water rationing advice 'If it's yellow, let it mellow ...'

You are reminding me of my brit wag of a pal who used to take 'How We Beat the German War Machine' with him to read when he visited his German in-laws!

Those Germans targeted Fish and Chip Shops all over Britain, in them days salt and vinegar was about as exotic/erotic as it got but NOW life without lemons is almost unimaginable and I'm reduced to buying Chinese produced lemons in the village shop. Have all the Cypriot lemons been stolen and if so by who and why :?:

Anyway its late and I need to go outside to take a leak, I might be gone for some time as the torch has died and my night vision is not as good as it used to be even with the added benefit of a couple of glasses of warm Zivana

You could always blame that thieving Oracle. If she sees a lemon anywhere, you can guarantee a lemon cake will pop out of the oven very soon.
