This charade orchestrated by Turkey and Israel, was a ploy to by both to reach their ultimate political goals. So what if ten fanatical turks were blown to hell....there are another 80,000,000 waiting to see Allah and his virgins.....Turkey is playing to the Arabs for economic reasons and Israel wanted to help its ally......

I am impressed indeed. The vests as are worn by the police almost a common occurence hardly an offensive weapon. More likely for defensive purposes, but hey Azrail will hang on to any straw it can. With their Turkish insignia, it is hardly they will be worn by Terrorists but by the Turkish peace activists in Gaza or elsewhere where trouble from the IDF can be expected. It would be foolhardy go go to places of strife naked and unprotected. As to the night vision eq. no comment apart from the fact that ship personnel use them too.

Had they had guns the metal pipes would have been pointless.

This is how to behave when being boarded by IDF:

Israel has offered to unload the vessel’s cargo in its Ashdod port, screen the material and deliver it to Gaza, but there were fears of another high-seas confrontation. Monday, Israeli commandos stormed a flotilla of six Gaza-bound ships — which activists said were on a humanitarian mission — leading to the deaths of nine people.

This is why there will be no bloodshed on board the MV Rachel Corrie! The Irish are going to show the violent terrorist affiliated Turks how to conduct a peace mission, where no one gets hurt!

And this is why none of the aid will reach gaza,, the animals will go over it like vultures on a dead body and the palastinians will the get the bare bones as usual

Life vests and NVGs are embargo items and I didn't see NVG being used by the Ship's crew. NVG is a great piece of kit for snipers. Also, there are no IDF operations currently under way in the Gaza Strip. But hundred of rockets have been fired in nearby Israeli towns.
