That may well be your wisest post…
"Stalinist Communist"? As opposed to "Stalinist Conservative / Liberal"? Why not just Stalinist?
YFred clearly has not got a clue about politics....
We are working on a process of elimination here. Can we have definitive answer whether you are Stalinist Communist or not first, before we can go ahead and analyze any other possibilities.
Either you are or you are not. Are you or are you not? Yes or No.
What art thou romeo? you are courting both sides and that is rather dangerous activity.
Well actually I'm not a Stalinist - I'm more a National Unionist (the other side of the political compass).
Anybody who confuses my posts with Communism must
either have a very poor understanding of politics for which he / she ought to be ashamed
or they are using the term "Communism" as an insult, which is rather old-fashioned now since the Cold War has been over for 20 years.
As far as my ethnic identity is concerned though, I don't recognise sides - I am "courting my own people," and I include you in that. I see Cypriots as one people / nation.
Isn't that what Stalin practiced and killed 20 million in the process. National Unionism. So that makes you Stalinist Communists. It is nothing to be ashamed of.
No that is not at all what Stalin practised, you really don't understand politics...
If you are referring to the Great purge of the 1930s this is more to do with totalitarianism and the personality cult of Stalin who was deeply paranoid. He sent hundreds of thousands of dissidents, intellectuals, minorities and religious people to the Gulags and even had his own physician murdered.
His idea of collectivism (state monopolising the farms and taking away its crops) resulted in a famine that killed ten million. The fact that the USSR was devastated by WW2 resulted in further deaths from famine. The fact that Stalin imposed his Communist ideology in this way on the Soviet peoples made him a hated figure by prettymuch everybody.
By contrast, the idea of National Unity is completely the opposite. National Unity Governments around the world are coalition governments made up of all or most parties in a parliament. They are usually formed in times of war or severe political crisis. In Cyprus, we have such a crisis as the island is divided, it is heavily militarised, Turkish speaking Cypriots are being assimilated by settlers who now outnumber them, we have some Cypriots left out of government, we have ethnic segregation (similar to apartheid) and we do not have full control over our own country.
