What a well thought out and reasoned response that was.

I'd like YOU to come to Cyprus and have a look round for yourself and see what I might mean by 'no pride in their own country'.

Not just in the way that they seem to have to tack themselves onto some perceived bigger and better country, but in the way they are oblivious to the litter in the streets, the garbage in their gardens and yards.

Houses full of lovely furniture and kept spotless - but take one step outside the door and a hell of a lot of the 'typically Cypriot' gardens consist of dead washing machines and fridges. Oil drums, assorted old iron and waist high weeds.

The contempt a lot of them here show for visitors - laughing about them being fleeced or ripped off - is more proof that they don't have pride in their country or want others to see the 'best in it'. IMHO!

I hope you protested strongly about Cyprus joining the EU. Because it is a strange club to want your country to be in if you do not like 'FURRINERS'.

...filth is not related to pride directly, witness any shoreline, hilltop or mountain anywhere in the med.

...what about Cairo, are Egyptians without pride having a city thousands of years old, one of the biggest in the world, only recently forming a department for sanitation.

education is necessary, hygene would focus our pride.

Well I know they still rely heavily on local 'mafia' to sort problems. I know who my local one is in Larnaca!

From your threat to 'send the boys in' - I guess you think that's one of the things about Cyprus that you take pride in?

Perhaps you'd serve your purpose better by posting to extoll the virtues of the things about Cyprus that DO give you pride in your country?

I love Cyprus. I do rave about the things and places in Cyprus that I love. I encourage others to visit Cyprus.

Doesn't mean there are things about it I really don't like or wish they'd do something about. As with any country, anywhere in the world.
