Why can't we do one here in London?

Gawd! Does ANYONE who posts on here actually live in Cyprus (and I don't mean just 'own a house here', 'holiday here' or 'feel their heart or home is here' whilst actually living thousands of miles from here).

DT and GR live there,GAS...And they have regular drinking sessions from what I gather...If you go easy on the "pride in their country" thingo,they might invite you to one....But make sure there are no APOEL hooligans waiting for you before you go in....

If Cypriots could agree on a day to celebrate their own national day we would not be in the situation we are in now...The truth of the mattter is Cypriotism will never take off as long as the status quo continues...What we have is partition along ethnic lines,and there are very influential forces on both sides whose interests coincide with keeping things as they are...Instead of wasting our time on cosmetic symbols we should think of ways to foster trust and understanding which might just lead us to empathy and compassion for each other as human beings...Trying to introduce Cypriot nationalism to counter Greek and Turkish nationalism is like sending boy and girl scouts in fishing boats to break the Israeli seige of Gazza...
