NUTUK for Yfred

Postby denizaksulu » Tue Jun 01, 2010 5:12 pm

Hi Yfred

I managed to squeeze into the loft. I also had a chance to inspect the roofers work.

I have scanned for you the introduction to the NUTUK. This edition was printed in 1959. It has gone through a lot of 'simplification' for the benefit of the ordinary people. There is an explanation to this in the 'Introduction'

I also scanned for you the first two pages of the opus.

The rest of the scans (still from the Nutuk)are of interest if you are a conservative and love your Mayor of London Boris Johnson

It relates to Ali Kemal Bey, the Minister of Interior of the Ottoman Empire, who was the great grand father of our beloved Boris ( no , not my cocker spaniel).

In this part of the Nutuk, he (Mustafa Kemal) talks about how Ali Kemal fomented anti Nationalist troubles and personally went to eastern Turkey with a number of soldiers to arrest MK for treason. MKs friends warned him (MK) to arrest Ali Kemal bey. This was not done till later as MK had urgent matters at hand.

Other forumers, I post these scans to show our Lurucadi the complexities style of the young Turkish language so apologies for breaking forum rules, but then rules are made to be broken.

You dont miss much on these pages Gasman. Ali Kemal 9Boris greatgand pa) was chasing Mustafa Kemal around Anatolia in order to arrest him. He was putting up pamphlets announcing that he was a criminal and a traitor etc etc. By mistake he also asked the advice from those close to MK. They told him just walk up to him and tie his hands.

I will look it up and see if there is any other reference to him. We know he was lynched by a mob after the war ended. (he had resigned his post long before the end).

You never know. If Ken gets back in, there will be nowhere else for Boris to go to, but the top.
