In the 'fly to' section put in Lemythou Cyprus and just to the left of the arrow there is a photo of the mitsis school and north neighbourhood this is one of the views from my balcony (taken by my bro in law)

I'm going to play around with it on my son's computer when he's gone to bed.

Who knows ... we could end up being neighbours!

BTW ... are you near any quarries?

The nearest quarries are the now defunct Asbestos mines at Amiantos about 10k away

They are foresting that up, aren't they? Did it deter you from buying? Was it something you considered? Cyprus seems to have a lot of mines/quarries when you start to Google! :?

I don't mind too much, if it keeps people away ... but hubby is thinking long term (damn) :D

Yes its part of the reaforrestion scheme it still looks a lot like a lunar landscape even now and I would imagine take decades to completely cover this man made monstrosity.

Dont let it put you off purchasing and moving into the area though its far more visible from the air (as on google earth) than it is from 'ground level'

When we lived in Lemythou in the late 70s the mine was still in pretty much operation , The old village bus used to stop there on the way to Limassol but its been closed for around 20 years now.

As far as i'm aware there are no other quarries of any major significance in the area

We did drive through your village, last year, and couldn't believe the amount of almond blossom. It really is a stunning village. But I want rural, rural, rural ... and above all ... rural! (Read isolated/secluded)

hmmmm... Almond blossom? O, are you confusing it with Letymbou. :?

Lemythou is in the mountains near Pedoulas and Prodromos. Letymbou is in the Paphos/Polis area about 30 minutes drive from your place between Kalepia and Polemi. I presume, from the altitude, Lemythou will have more apple blossoms then almonds.

We did go to Lemithou ... but maybe I am wrong about the Almond blossom. Maybe it was Apple blossom ... there is only a month between them after all.

As for Lemon cake (have added to my repertoire of cakes) I'm sorting things out, Kafenes, so that I can spend the rest of my days cooking cakes! I want you round my place all the time and drinking tea and eating cakes with me ... and I will have a tractor to keep the place tidy! :D

Look forward to it O. Tractor??? I think a box of matches will fix it. Haven't been around there lately. You will be a busy woman.
