To be honest, Bir, no I didn't much enjoy it - not my style - but it is fascinating historically all the same.

It is probably the most experimental of Pamuk's work...I enjoyed it quite a bit...But my favourite is his memoirs on Istanbul...He brought the city alive for me and made it less intimidating...

I have not read any of Pamuks books cause of his arrogance seeing himself as the person struggling against the state.
He is an arrogant little shit. There are people who have been to prison as well as killed for their thoughts.
35 writers have been killed
Grup yorum has been taken to court 400 times in the last 20 years. Now there is what I call struggle.
Pamuk is just an opportunist.

No,Yfred...Pamuk is a great writer...Don't be swayed by all the conspiracy theories about him...It is not his fault that he hasn't been killed by some nutter...Having said that,I believe Yasar Kemal was more deserving of the Nobel prize...The fact that they have everlooked Kemal certainly raises doubts about Pamuk's Nobel, but that doesn't mean he is not a great, contemporary, world class writer...
