From what I understand the crew and activists pulled guns on the Israelis. This was a stupid move. Having said that the loss of life is tragic even if it is the life of a moron.

as only the israelis have been allowed to make statements how do you know the truth?

No it wasn't! It was Ottoman territory which finally collapsed and surrendered all claims to Cyprus... (see articles 20 & 21)

But the UN says this is less than a quarter of what is needed.

The Israelis have also claimed that Egypt offered to accept the aid where it will be checked. This was also rejected by the activists.

Apparently, Israel had no issue if the aid was handled in either their own or Egyptian Ports.

As all passengers had been through passport control and all goods checked by customs before departure why send it to Egypt especially as the israeli spokesperson claimed there were terrorists linked to Al queda on board and the aid was a cover for gun running.... they dont know how many more stories to put out to make people think they are telling the truth.....

Some of the boats departed occupied Cyprus. I don't believe Israel recognizes "trnc" customs. I also believe it is quite reasonable for Israel wanting to vet the aid on board.

The aid could have gone to Egypt, and Israel was prepared to allow the shipment to pass into the Strip. But I guess the activists had differant objectives.

I wonder how the Yanks are gonna handle this fiasco....
After a 'lengthy investigation' Are they 'mysteriously' gonna find arms on board, are the victims gonna 'mysteriously' become baptized Hamas militants or have ties to militia groups?
It should be amuzing watching the Americans trying to mediate this sticky situation.
