I cannot believe there is nowhere in Cyprus to buy oil lamps and spare parts for them? Can anyone tell me of such a shop preferably near or in Larnaca. Many thanks

I am not looking for a camping lamp. I am looking for spare parts for the sort of lamp that people used in their homes before electricity and, given the unreliability of the electricity in Cyprus, I am sure there is a call for this kind of product.

I will give up givng advice and recommendations from now on. In the wilderness of the north of Cyprus , in the paleolithic TC villages, that is the kind of lamp they use.

I remeber them being used for night lamp even after electricity. There are plenty in the north. Any touristy type shop in North Lefkosha will have what you are looking for.

We used to refer to the lamp as Fanoz.

Fanoz/fanoos is the transparent bit on top of the paraffin reservoir; but in Lurucina anything can happen?

There is a bicycle shop in Kalogera street in Larnaca. Its a one way street, prior to Radio Raymond. I beleive he may help you...

Its worth a try, sorry dont know his name or phone number, however its on the right side of the road, near a flower shop.

Petroleum lamps more likely. Oil lamps burn olive oil.
