I'm not gonna start changing the language my forefathers and my kids speak now DTA if thats what you're asking. Cyprus has other problems than just linguistic communication.

Taking away the history of this island is not a solution. We should be proud of our history and not sacrifice it for the sake of a political conflict.

How do you feel about your children learning Terkish? For the sake of understanding and all that.

no problem whatsoever....I'm learning a few words myself.

Chock iyi. Efgaristo.

How about using Latin characters so you can begin to Europeanise properly like the turks did in 1923.

I'm not in control of the Greek Language.

I did not say you were, but you can start a champagne for the good of the whole of Cyprus. Perhaps that will help towards understanding and eventual proper unification.

You wouldn't know it but people closer to my age than yours have no problem communicating.

Really, that's very interesting. So you can communicate with me but I can't communicate with you. Well considering I have been making a living and a good one at that for the past decade from communication with other people as well as problem solving, may suggest that the blockage may well be at your end rather then mine.

I knew that all the YFred clan kids have TC accounts and all have many GC friends. One went to USA recently with group of GC/TC gathering for better understanding.

Well thats interesting because you can't write Cypriot down in the Greek alphabet as it's missing letters.
If you guys ever have a look at the poetry of Lipertis, he used to insert latin characters into the Greek when needed. I think the biggest problem will be the gap until we learn to speak each other's language 'formally' and can use it in a business environment, whereas kids mixing will be able to communicate in a short period of time. I can see the languages not mixing as a new dialect, but words from both being used at the same time. Like in the 90's when all the North London kids got repatriated and their Greek improved too, and everyone used to fire off 'Gringlish' (aka Billika).
Allegedly a lot of the youngsters now are opting to learn Greek/ Turkish voluntarily. I dont know where I got that from, has anyone else heard that?

Whenever I see anything written in Greek I see it as a challenge and try to read it. I can read newspaper articles and can make sense of them with the little Greek I remember. You should try it Yfred.
